Robozuna is a kids' animated series about battling robots. What's not to love?
ITV wanted a microsite to accompany the show—character profiles, episode information, interactive features. But they wanted to push the technology further than usual. This was potentially ITV's first progressive web app.
We built it in React, structured as a proper PWA from the start. Service workers handle caching and updates, which means the site works offline—important for kids who might be looking at it on a tablet with patchy wifi.
The performance is deliberately aggressive. Kids don't wait patiently for slow websites. Every asset is optimised, every route is pre-cached, every transition is instant. The whole thing feels more like an app than a website.
Cockpit CMS handles the backend—lightweight and headless, perfect for a content-driven microsite that doesn't need a complex admin system. The ITV team could update character bios and add new content without touching code.
The site launched alongside the show and did exactly what it was supposed to: give young fans somewhere to explore the Robozuna universe between episodes.
More importantly, it proved the PWA approach could work within ITV's ecosystem. Fast, reliable, app-like—all the benefits without the App Store hassle.
