Rewind Festival is an 80s nostalgia celebration that runs across three locations each summer. Thousands of attendees need to know: who's playing when, where's the nearest bar, what time does Kim Wilde start?
They became our first customer for Apollo, our festival app platform. The stakes were real—three weekends, multiple venues, tens of thousands of users.
The backend (affectionately named Billy, after the legendary festival fraudster) pulls lineup data directly from Rewind's WordPress site. No double-entry, no copy-paste errors. The Rewind team can enhance the data—add artist photos, write bios, set up notifications—then it all flows through to the app.
The mobile app is fully branded Rewind: their colours, their typography, their 80s aesthetic. Users get set times, stage maps, artist info, and crucially, push notifications. "Nik Kershaw starting in 15 minutes on the Main Stage" is genuinely useful when you're queueing for a burger.
We built tools for the Rewind team to send notifications themselves—scheduled in advance or triggered live. Over the three weekends, we pushed over 35,000 notifications.
The app hit #1 in Entertainment on the App Store during festival season. Users got the information they needed. The Rewind team could update everything from their phones.
More importantly, it proved Apollo worked in production. Real festivals, real users, real stress. The platform held up, and we had a product we could sell to other festivals.
