Location scouts for film and photography shoots spend a ridiculous amount of time searching for the right space. Photoshoot Locations wanted to fix that—a curated database of London's best locations, searchable by style, size, light conditions, and all the other things that matter when you're planning a shoot.
But it needed to be more than a gallery. Location owners needed to manage their listings. Production companies needed to save favourites, request viewings, and generate professional PDF lookbooks to share with clients.
Sarah Evans designed the visual identity, and we built the platform on Laravel with Vue.js handling the interactive bits.
The search is the heart of the experience. We indexed locations by dozens of criteria—architectural style, natural light, parking, noise levels, pet-friendliness. Location scouts can filter quickly to find spaces that actually work for their shoot.
Behind the scenes, there's more going on than you'd expect. Automatic watermarking protects images from being screenshotted and used without booking. Distance calculations help scouts plan multiple viewings in a single trip. The PDF generator creates slick lookbooks with consistent branding that production companies can share with clients.
Property owners get their own dashboard to manage listings, update availability, and track enquiries. We built it to require minimal tech knowledge—most of them are homeowners renting their spaces, not property professionals.
The platform successfully connected location owners with film and photography productions. The search functionality proved its worth—users could find the right location in minutes rather than hours.
The PDF lookbook feature became unexpectedly popular. Turns out production companies love being able to generate professional documents instantly.
