

Out of the Box Cards had just smashed their Kickstarter goal. Their concept—cards for girls featuring inspirational women rather than princesses and pink ponies—clearly resonated. Now they needed an online shop.
The catch: they were selling to two very different audiences. Individual customers buying a few cards, and retailers placing wholesale orders. The shop needed to handle both without getting complicated.
Perch CMS with its shop add-on gave us the flexibility to handle different customer types without building a bespoke system. Retail customers see standard pricing; trade customers log in and see wholesale prices. Same products, same checkout flow, different numbers.
The design mirrors the brand—bold, colourful, playful. The illustrations are the star, so we made sure they displayed beautifully across all devices. Product pages load fast and the checkout is stripped down to essentials. Card details, quantity, pay, done.
We also built in simple inventory management. When a design sells out, it shows as unavailable. When new designs launch, the team can add them without calling us.
The shop launched in time to capture post-Kickstarter momentum. Orders started flowing from both individual customers and retailers. The dual-pricing system works invisibly—customers never need to think about whether they're wholesale or retail, the system just shows them the right prices.
A nice example of a small business idea that found its audience and needed technology that didn't get in the way.
