Mossburn Whiskeys

The Challenge

Mossburn Distillers produce premium Scotch whisky from various regions across Scotland. Their website needed to capture that sense of craft and heritage while still being a practical tool for distributors and whisky enthusiasts.

Dan Kaufmann created a stunning design—rich photography, elegant typography, the kind of thing that makes you want a dram. Our job was to build it in a way that the team could maintain long-term.

Our Approach

We used Fractal, a tool from Clearleft for building component libraries and style guides. It might sound like overkill for a whisky website, but it meant we could develop and test each component in isolation before assembling the final pages.

The result is a codebase where every element—navigation, product cards, tasting notes panels—lives as a documented, reusable component. When the marketing team needs a new page type, they can build it from existing pieces rather than starting from scratch.

The site balances atmosphere with usability. Rich imagery draws you in, but finding product information or locating a stockist is straightforward. Premium doesn't have to mean confusing.

The Results

The site successfully bridges the gap between brand storytelling and practical e-commerce needs. It looks the part next to other premium whisky brands while actually being maintainable by a small team.

Plus, we got sent some very nice whisky samples during development. Perks of the job.
